Nonproliferation and Conflict Resolution

Three Indian and three Pakistani journalists participated in the nonproliferation and conflict resolution tour. 

In Washington, D.C., the journalists met with members of the Atlantic Council, the Stimson Center, the Defense Threat Reduction Reduction Agency, the Heritage Foundation and the National Defense University.  They also met with Brookings' Stephen Cohen; the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy's Ambassador John Pakistani and Indian Journalists in NMMacDonald; Paula DeSutter, Asst. Sec. of State, Bureau for Verification and Compliance; Christina Rocca, Asst. Sec. of State, South Asia; and Caroline Russell, NP.  The reporters also visited the Nuclear Risk Reduction Center and participated in a negotiation simulation exercise at the University of Maryland.

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, the reporters spent a day at the Cooperative Monitoring Center at Sandia National Laboratory and met with an expert in non-proliferation at the University of New Mexico.

In California, the journalists met with members of The Indus Entrepreneurs, a group of Pakistani and Indian businessmen who promote cooperation between the two countries and also met with scholars at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies at the Monterey Institute on International Studies.
