Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security

The Los Angeles Foreign Press Center conducted a two-day program in Los Angeles for twenty-nine West Coast-based journalists on the city's emergency preparedness plans and homeland securtiy issues at Los Angeles International Airport and the Port Complex of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The group attended briefings, tours, and mock demonstrations by the Department of Homeland Security's Transportation Security Administration, Customs and Border Protection, Coast Guard; and first responder teams from the Fire Department, City Emergency Operations Center, and other multi-agency government/private organizations.
