In honor of World Refugee Day, the Washington FPC hosted a local tour to a local refugee resettlement center, the Lutheran Social Services/National Capital Area center in Falls Church, VA. The tour met with board members who explained the organization’s mission to help refugees from their arrival at the airport to their first job interview, with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency. Journalists also observed a cultural orientation class for two newly arrived refugee families from Iraq.
