The Foreign Press Center lead a group of 17 international print, radio, and broadcast journalists on a reporting tour to Los Angeles to explore the theme of multiculturalism in America. Los Angeles is one of the most diverse cities in the United States with one in every three residents born overseas. Participants met with political officials including deputy Mayor Tracy Gray, various ethnic chambers of commerce, religious officials, attended the 113th Annual Golden Dragon Parade & Chinese New Year Festival, visited L.A. City College, Hollywood High School, the Los Angeles Police Department, and various well known Chinese, Mexican, Korean, African-American and lesser known Pakistani and Bengali ethnic communities.
