Washington Foreign Press Center hosted and accompanied foreign journalists on a domestic reporting tour to Detroit, MI for the press preview of the North American International Auto Show. The tour provided participating journalists with the opportunity to gain an early, inside look and report on the latest  models and trends in the automotive industry for 2012 as well as interact with a variety of experts, industry representatives, and business and civic leaders from the American and international automotive community.

In addition to covering the auto show, the journalists attended a series of FPC-organized activities including a lecture on the economy of Michigan and the Great Lakes-region with experts from Wayne State University and the University of Windsor and a discussion on politics in Michigan and the 2012 election with Michigan Democratic Committee Chairman Mark Brewer. In between their reporting on the auto show journalists were also given briefings by officials from General Motors and Tesla on hybrid cars and other Green Technologies in the automotive industry and an exclusive press conference with Michigan Governor Rick Snyder from inside COBO Arena and the NAIAS.
