MEDIA INFORMATION FOR APEC LEADERS’ MEETINGS

SCHEDULE:  OPEN PRESS COVERAGE

FOR THE DEPARTURE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA

 

APEC-credentialed media interested in covering the departure of President Obama at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) in Honolulu should read this message carefully.  Failure to follow any of the instructions here may result in your inability to access coverage.

 

Media wishing to cover President Obama’s departure from Hickam on November 15 will need to sign up at the International Media Center (IMC) at the Hawaii Convention Center (HCC) no later than 11:00 tonight (November 13) by registering in person at the information desk in the IMC.  Registration will not be accepted after 11:00 tonight, and unregistered media will be denied access to Hickam.

 

Journalists who have signed up to cover the departure must provide their own transportation to Hickam and must show up at the Main Gate within the times cited in the matrix below.  Media who show up late will be denied entry to the base.

 

Only journalists holding APEC press credentials will be allowed access to Hickam.  Media will go through security before entering the flight area where they will be positioned on risers.

 

The following list of arrivals is subject to change.  Please confirm the arrival information at the time of sign-up.

 

DEPARTURE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA ON NOVEMBER 15:

 

 

MUST BE AT MAIN GATE BETWEEN:

Pre-set:  0530 – 0630

Final Press Access:  0800

 

TO COVER THIS ARRIVAL, USE MAIN GATE:  To access the main gate from Waikiki: take H-1 W, take the Naval Base/Hickam AFB exit going toward Hickam; you will run right into the main gate.  Security forces will reserve the far left lane for access only by APEC-related people.  There will be Public Affairs personnel at the gate to provide directions to the parking area.  Cable run is 250 feet; throw is 150 feet.
