MEDIA INFORMATION FOR APEC LEADERS’ MEETINGS

HONOLULU, HAWAII
NOVEMBER 8 - 13, 2011

SCHEDULE:  OPEN PRESS COVERAGE

FOR ARRIVING LEADERS’ DELEGATIONS

APEC-credentialed media interested in covering the arrival of official leaders’ delegations – including President Obama – at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) in Honolulu should read this message carefully.  Failure to follow any of the instructions here may result in your inability to access coverage.

Many official leaders’ delegations to APEC will be arriving at Hickam between November 9 and 12.  (Note that the arrival of any official delegations at Honolulu International Airport is closed to press.)  Media wishing to cover one or more arrivals at Hickam will need to sign up at the International Media Center (IMC) at the Hawaii Convention Center (HCC) no later than 24 hours in advance of the arrival(s) by registering in person at the information desk in the IMC after it opens at 8 a.m. on November 8.  Registration will not be accepted less than 24 hours in advance of the arrival(s), and unregistered media will be denied access to Hickam.

Journalists who have signed up to cover specific arrivals must provide their own transportation to Hickam and must show up at the correct gate within the times cited in the matrix below.  Media who show up late will be denied entry to the base.

Only journalists holding APEC press credentials will be allowed access to Hickam to cover arrivals.  It is important that all media pick up their credentials at the Ilikai Hotel in Waikiki before arriving at Hickam.

Media will go through security before entering the flight area where they will be positioned on risers.

The following list of arrivals is subject to change.  Please confirm the arrival information at the time of sign-up.
