The Washington Foreign Press Center arranged a media tour to the Congressional Research Service (CRS). Journalists from Argentina, Colombia, Japan, Korea and Qatar participated. Media were briefed on CRS and its function in supporting the work of the U.S. Congress by providing comprehensive research and analysis on all legislative and oversight issues. Briefers also discussed CRS’ review panel which ensures that all services provided by CRS (reports, issue briefs, memorandums) are objective, authoritative and confidential. The tour provided an in-depth look at a unique institution within the Legislative Branch of the U.S government whose support mission to Congress has remained unchanged since its inception in 1914.
