BACKGROUND:
FOR PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY/NOT FOR REPORTING OR DISTRIBUTION:

The State Department will host a media logistics briefing on Thursday, September 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 am for media outlets planning to cover the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting (AELM) this November in Honolulu, Hawaii. The briefing will serve as an opportunity for news organizations to receive detailed information about the registration and credentialing process, as well as logistics of their coverage for AELM.

The briefing will be off-the-record and will cover logistical and security arrangements for media covering the AELM, including key dates, available facilities and access instructions.

Members of the media wishing to attend the briefing should email APEC2011media@state.gov to provide attendee name(s), name of news organization and complete contact information. The deadline to register for the briefing is 5:00 PM ET Wednesday, September 21. Registration is required to attend the briefing. Please note, attendance at the briefing does not guarantee you will be granted an APEC credential for AELM. Attendance at the briefing is not required to receive credentials to cover AELM.
