The Foreign Press Center accompanied international media from India, Ukraine, Italy, Pakistan, Portugal, Canada, Turkey, China, and Japan on a behind-the-scenes educational tour of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recording Sound Division of the Library of Congress. Journalists learned what the collection holds, how to access materials, and about the processes of archiving and acquisitions. One of the reference librarians showed the journalists archived newsreel footage from 1932, demonstrating how to load the reels and operate the equipment. She also explained the limited commercial use copyrighted materials, and took them on a tour of the expansive storage rooms.
