The Foreign Press Center organized a reporting tour for 20 young, influential bloggers to demonstrate the U.S. government’s use of innovative new media tools to promote U.S. policy priorities, and to explore how both our government and groups in the private sector help activists and institutions around the world communicate effectively on the internet to advocate for positive change. The FPC program engaged young political and social activists in priority countries, and those who follow their blogs, in a highly interactive way to generate constructive dialogue about USG support for democratization, civil society, and human rights initiatives.
The bloggers met with Undersecretary of State Judith McHale (pictured), Senior Advisor Alec Ross, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Dan Baer. In Minneapolis, the bloggers attended a blogging conference where many of the tour participants were speakers and panelists. The Office of Electronic Information, Bureau of Public Affairs, manages this site as a portal for information from the U.S. State Department.
