A half dozen media outlets from Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East participated in the FPC tour designed to help international students understand the process of higher education accreditation and admission in the United States. The tour began with a roundtable discussion at the FPC on how international students find legitimate programs that meet their individual needs featuring Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Academic Programs Alina L. Romanowski, Vice President for Recognition Services Leah Matthews from the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, and David Hawkins, Director of Public Policy and Research for the National Association for College Admission Counseling. A briefing on Student Visa Issues by David T. Donahue, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Visas, followed the roundtable. Participants then traveled to the George Washington University for lunch with international students and a panel discussion on “Getting Into a U.S. University: What to Consider - What to Expect” with Donna Scarboro, Associate Vice President for International Programs; Kathy Napper, Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Admissions; and Kristin Williams, Assistant Vice President of Graduate and Special Enrollment Management
