As part of our continuing effort to provide foreign journalists with opportunities to explore American culture, the Foreign Press Center arranged a haunted exterior walking tour of Lafayette Square and the White House environs.
The tour was given by Washington Walks, a local company that specializes in historical and cultural walking tours around Washington. Fifteen journalists from Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Taiwan, Turkey, France, Poland, Azerbaijan, Poland, Serbia, and China attended enthusiastically. A professional actress led the group, and told folklore stories combined with a history of the people and buildings featured on the tour.
