Eleven journalists from ten sub-Saharan African countries recently completed a week-long reporting tour on community policing in America. The group of print, online and radio journalists visited Baltimore, MD; Washington, DC; and New Orleans, LA to examine the issue at federal, state and local levels. The group met with representatives from the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, the National Defense University, the Baltimore Police Department, the New Orleans Police Department and John Hopkins University. Both the Commission of Police in Baltimore and the Chief of Police in New Orleans met with the reporters.
