DEADLINE FRIDAY - Media Credential Application for the Nuclear Security Summit

April 12-13, 2010

The State Department is now accepting media credential applications for the Nuclear Security Summit. The summit will take place April 12 & 13 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. All media covering the Summit must hold a valid event credential.

The deadline to submit press credential applications is THIS FRIDAY March 12, 2010 (11:59 p.m. EST). The website will close on that day and will not accept subsequent applications.

The Press Credential Application Form is available at Please note that this application is for media credentials only. Official photographers who are travelling with their country’s delegation are required to contact their embassy for credential applications.

Please follow all form directions and use the correct size/type of JPEG passport/visa photo. Your credential will not be processed if the required information and format are incorrect. Uploaded photos must be in JPEG format no more than 100KB in size. Credentials will not be processed unless photos meet the criteria outlined in the following examples.

When an application has been received by the State Department, applicants will receive an email with a confirmation receipt/number. Submitting an application and receiving a confirmation does not guarantee a credential for the Summit. Due to the high demand, there may be limits on the number of credentials that can actually be issued.

You can check on the status press credentials at after credential submissions close. Approved applicants will receive a second email with further information on how to collect their credential.

Note: Journalists who are not American citizens and are issued a credential must have a valid “I” visa or work permit (“Green Card”) to work in the United States, even for a short period. Please consult the U.S. Embassy or Consulate closest to you about obtaining an “I” visa.
