Thirty correspondents from 10 countries participated in the FPC's media tour to the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, from January 11-12, 2010.
The journalists observed the unveiling of more than 40 new vehicles, including concept cars, hybrids, ethanol-burning and electric cars. The correspondents spoke with auto industry analysts, vehicle forecasters, product engineers, entrepreneurs, and automakers from Ford, GM, Audi, Toyota, BMW, Cadillac and Nissan to name a few.
Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, UAW President Ron Gettelfinger, Detroit Economic Club CEO Beth Chappell and Deputy Mayor Saul Green, discussed the decline of the auto industry, efforts and challenges to create new jobs, and the mood of the citizens of Detroit, which rounded out the two-day program.
