The NY FPC, in cooperation with ESPN, sponsored a reporting tour to its Bristol Connecticut headquarters for a first-hand look at the 2010 FIFA* World Cup Draw. (*the International Federation of Association Football).

The tour included briefing sessions, media availabilities and photo ops with key ESPN U.S. and International World Cup production and programming executives; and insights and post-Draw interviews with ESPN World Cup analysts who were former soccer pros who themselves played in previous World Cup tournaments: it was a Who’s Who of international football personalities.

Ten journalists representing seven countries participated in the tour, including Bangladesh, France, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Slovenia and the United Kingdom. It was a great tour enjoyed by all. The FPC journalists demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge of World Cup competitions and international football and their questions earned the respect of the ESPN executives and analysts. At this event, the FPC journalists were truly mainstream.
