Nine senior journalists from NATO allied and partner countries (UK, Germany, Spain, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Finland, Georgia, and Estonia) participated in the tour. Journalists interviewed State and Defense Department officials, Congressional staff, and think-tank experts. The issues discussed included NATO’s involvement in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the U.S. and NATO’s relationship with Russia, Georgia and Ukraine, non-proliferation, missile defense, Iran, Iraq, and emerging threats such as piracy, climate change, and resource scarcity.
