nyfpc@state.gov The New York Foreign Press Center in cooperation with the Brick City Development Corporation sponsored a tour to Newark, New Jersey. Newark, an historic American city, is rising above the negativity that has surrounded it for a generation and has become a model for urban communities around the country by balancing crime control, economic development and social progress.
The tour included briefings and media availabilities with city leaders including Mayor Cory Booker and Deputy Mayor Stefan Pryor. Head of Economic Development and Chairman of the city's Brick City Development Corporation (BCDC) provided FPC journalists with an insight into the dynamics of Newark's revitalization. The tour concluded with a wrap-up and informal gathering with BCDC staff and city officials.
